Most people don’t need another plan.
They don’t need more discipline.
They don’t need to “try harder.”
What they actually need is a new way of relating to change.
SHIFT isn’t about doing more.
It’s about becoming more aligned with who you are now — not who you were at 25, not who you think you “should” be, and not who hustle culture tells you to become.
After years of coaching, training, and walking my own healing and growth journey, I noticed something consistent:
When change truly sticks — in health, life, identity, and business — it almost always comes back to the same six principles.
I call them the 6 C’s of SHIFT:
Courage.
Commitment.
Consistency.
Connection.
Curiosity.
Congruency.
These aren’t tactics.
They aren’t a checklist.
They’re ways of being.
When these six are present, change feels sustainable instead of exhausting.
When they’re missing, even the best plan eventually falls apart.
Let’s walk through each one.
1. Courage
Courage isn’t loud.
It isn’t dramatic.
And it doesn’t always look brave from the outside.
Real courage is honest.
It’s being willing to look at your life and admit when something no longer fits — even if it once did.
It’s releasing old patterns, routines, beliefs, or identities that kept you safe in a previous season but now keep you stuck.
In midlife especially, courage often shows up quietly:
Choosing rest when you’re used to pushing
Saying no when you’ve been praised for saying yes
Trusting your intuition over external validation
SHIFT begins with courage because you cannot create a new life while clinging to old ways of being.
The question isn’t “What do I need to add?”
It’s often, “What am I ready to release?”
Commitment is often misunderstood.
It’s not intensity.
It’s not motivation.
And it’s not going all-in for two weeks and burning out.
Real commitment is devotion.
It’s returning again and again — even when progress feels slow.
Even when results aren’t obvious.
Even when life gets full, messy, or uncomfortable.
Commitment is choosing alignment over perfection.
It’s staying connected to what matters most, even on ordinary days.
SHIFT doesn’t happen because you push harder.
It happens because you stay.
Ask yourself:
What am I willing to stay committed to — not just when it feels exciting, but when it feels quiet?
3. Consistency
Motivation comes and goes.
Especially in midlife, when hormones, energy, sleep, and responsibilities fluctuate.
Consistency is what carries you through the seasons when motivation isn’t there.
And here’s the truth most people miss:
Consistency doesn’t mean doing everything.
It means doing something — repeatedly.
Small, aligned actions done consistently create more change than big, sporadic efforts ever will.
SHIFT is built in:
the meals you eat most often
the way you move your body regularly
the thoughts you practice returning to
You don’t need a perfect plan.
You need a sustainable rhythm.
What’s one small thing you can stay consistent with right now
4. Connection
We are not meant to do life alone.
Connection isn’t weakness — it’s regulation.
It’s safety.
It’s support.
Connection to your body helps you listen instead of override.
Connection to other people provides perspective and accountability.
Connection to something bigger than yourself gives meaning to the process.
So many people don’t struggle because they lack discipline.
They struggle because they are disconnected — from themselves, from others, or from purpose.
SHIFT accelerates when you are supported.
Growth becomes lighter when it’s shared.
Ask yourself:
Where do I feel most connected right now?
And where might I need more support?
5. Curiosity
Curiosity changes everything.
So much frustration comes from asking the wrong question.
Instead of:
“What’s wrong with me?”
Try:
“What is this here to teach me? or "What is going on here”
Curiosity creates space.
It removes shame.
It turns setbacks into information instead of failures.
When you approach your health, habits, emotions, or patterns with curiosity, you stop fighting yourself and start learning from yourself.
SHIFT becomes lighter when judgment is replaced with awareness.
What if this season isn’t about fixing yourself…
but understanding yourself more deeply?
6. Congruency
Congruency is alignment.
It’s when your actions match your values.
When what you say matters is reflected in how you live, work, eat, move, and rest.
A lot of exhaustion doesn’t come from doing too much.
It comes from doing things that don’t align with who you’ve become.
Burnout often happens when there’s a gap between:
what you value
and how you’re actually living
Your nervous system feels that disconnect — even if your mind tries to push through it.
SHIFT happens when that gap begins to close.
Where in your life do you feel most aligned right now?
And where might you be ready to realign?
SHIFT Isn’t a Hustle. It’s a Return.
The 6 C’s of SHIFT aren’t about fixing yourself, because you are not broken.
They’re about coming home to yourself.
When courage, commitment, consistency, connection, curiosity, and congruency guide your decisions, change stops feeling forced.
Life begins to flow with more ease.
And growth becomes something you can actually sustain.
SHIFT doesn’t happen overnight.
It happens moment by moment — as you choose alignment over pressure.
